    Job Purpose

    Maintains, repairs, and overhauls school buses and other company vehicles. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of maintenance tasks. May direct the work of others. Works under general supervision with some latitude for independent judgment. May assist in training less experienced technicians or new employees.

    Major Responsibilities

    1. Repairs and maintains school buses and other company vehicles while adhering to FMCSA guidelines.
    2. Inspects and tests equipment at prescribed intervals of time and usage or upon malfunction or breakdown.
    3. Inspects, tests, and aligns bus lights and wheels and maintains electrical systems and controls. Balances wheels to minimize wear on tires and rotates wheels at prescribed mileage intervals. Tunes up engine to maintain combustion control standards. Adjusts equipment to standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards.
    4. Disassembles, inspects, and replaces worn or broken parts. Fixes and adjusts new or repaired parts. Oils and greases vehicles; changes filters.
    5. Test drives repaired equipment.
    6. Performs limited bodywork and repainting on vehicles after a breakdown or accident, as needed or as skills allow.
    7. Maintains part usage records and orders repair parts from designated suppliers. May be required to maintain small parts storeroom.
    8. Notifies supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
    9. May direct work on an as needed basis of less skilled technicians.
    10. All other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Education & Certifications Required

    1. High school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Technical training preferred.
    3. Must possess or be able to acquire CDL Operator’s license (Class B) with P endorsement within 60 days of hire.

    Experience & Skills Required

    1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the transportation industry preferred.
    2. 3+ years of related mechanical experience or trade school with endorsements such as Preventative Maintenance or Brake Certifications preferred.
    3. CDL required.

    Job Purpose

    Plan, direct and coordinate management of the operation of a school bus facility(ies) revenue contract fulfillment with appropriate attention to customer service, safety, employee relations, performance tracking and financials. Serves as the location safety leader responsible for safety culture and results.

    Job Purpose

    Under limited supervision, dispatch all buses to ensure on-time performance of service within an assigned geographical area.

    Major Responsibilities

    1. Oversee all routing and scheduling of buses; dispatch buses and provide timely information to drivers on route.
    2. Counsel & coach drivers and monitors on front line disciplinary & service issues.
    3. Take all scheduling and driver complaints, report to Operations Supervisor/Contract Manager or resolve problems directly with the customer.
    4. Handle heavy phone and radio traffic.
    5. Serve as primary communication liaison with major contracted customer.
    6. May handle charter reservations, billing, or driver payroll. May monitor licensing and participate in hiring drivers.
